Better Makers: Wonder Ball Raises $2 Million for Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago

Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago Wonder Ball: John Edwardson and Tom Ricketts

On Friday, June 2, philanthropists came together for the Woman’s Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago’s 68th Annual Summer Ball, The Wonder Ball. The fundraiser raised $2 million, which will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago supports Chicago’s youth, many of whom come from economically challenged neighborhoods. Twenty-three sites around the city help around 2,000 kids every day by offering programs with lifestyle support ranging from education and career to life skills.

At the Wonder Ball, the Gold Coast All Stars provided entertainment for attendees at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, which had been done up by the nationally lauded Chicago design and décor company Kehoe Designs.

Notable names among the 350 attendees were chairman and owner of the Chicago Cubs Tom Ricketts and his wife, CeCe; event co-chair  and CMO of Magellan Development Group Robin Loewenberg Tebbe with her husband, Mark Tebbe, a tech entrepreneur as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business; event co-chair Aimee Gray with her husband, Jim Gray; and Grubhub co-founder and CEO Matt Maloney and his wife, Holly.

Meredith and Patrick Wood-Prince, Trish Rooney, Shawn Donnelley, Ward and Melissa McNally, Margie and Kevin Stineman, Meredith and Bill Wolf, and Betsy and David Bradley were also in attendance.
