The Union League Boys & Girls Clubs celebrated their 100th anniversary in conjunction with their 22nd Annual Wine Dinner on June 14 at the Union League Club. The dinner entailed a five course meal executed by the Union League Club’s Chef Garbin, and was paired with hand-picked Heitz Cellar wine. Guests were able to participate in the live auction that included prizes such as a private sailboat cruise along Lake Michigan and private tours of the Heitz Cellars in Napa Valley. Over $60,000 was raised in the live auction and will be used to support the various youth programs the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs offer.
The Union League Boys & Girls Clubs are an entity of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, but is separate from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. The ULBGC’s mission is to make a positive difference for Chicago’s disadvantaged youth by providing after-school programs that focus on homework help and tutoring, arts, sports, STEM and robotics, and mentorship. These programs not only serve over 15,000 youth in 11 underserved communities such as Pilsen, Humboldt Park, Englewood, Bucktown, and South Lawndale, but ULBGC also provides a hot meal to every participant every single day. In addition to that, the ULBGC offers summer camp in Salem, Wisconsin, on a vast 250-acre land that fulfills fun and educational activities all summer long.
