Make It Better Media Group celebrated National Philanthropy Day a little differently this year. In a new virtual world, we turned to quarantine’s saving grace, Zoom, to keep our annual celebration alive. And although it looked a bit different this year, it was just as special.
This virtual event was presented by Bank of America Private Bank and we were joined by an incredible panel of nonprofit organizations represented by Celena Roldan, Chief Executive Officer of American Red Cross Tiffany Circle, Shoshana Buchholz-Miller, Executive Director for Cradles to Crayons, and Shelley Patenaude, President, Founders’ Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. We were also honored to be joined by the fashion house Loro Piana, who is graciously hosting a charity shopping event from November 19 — December 1st, 2020, where they will be donating 10% of proceeds to the nonprofits represented on our panel.
The event kicked off with a keynote presentation by Bank of America Private Bank, where Misti Sangani, Senior Philanthropic Strategist, Ramsay Slugg, Wealth Strategies Advisor, and Patricia Chavez, Philanthropic Market Executive discussed topics such as the current state of the nonprofit and social sector, donor pivots, mission alignment, giving through an equity lens, and much more.
We then heard from our philanthropy panel about each of their organizations and then finished the event with a panel Q&A discussion, where we heard powerful insights about making the most of philanthropic dollars, and on engaging the next generation in philanthropy from Bank of America Private Bank and our philanthropy panel.
