Megan Haselschwerdt, doctoral candidate in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is conducting a study on domestic violence in the North Shore area for her Ph.D. dissertation study.
Haselschwerdt has been working with women’s organizations and agencies such as Northwestern’s Family Institute to recruit participants for her study.
Haselschwerdt was inspired to conduct this study in order to give a voice to an issue that is oftentimes keep under wraps, and therefore hoping to help women who suffer from violence in their own homes.
Haselschwerdt is looking to speak with North Shore mothers who have suffered from domestic violence or abuse. She will be making bi-weekly trips to Chicago to conduct these interviews.
