While the upcoming holiday season is a time to shine for some theaters, the Citadel Theatre glistens all year long.
From spring and fall workshops and a summer camp, to its annual gala and live shows, the team behind the nonprofit gem has limited downtime. The Citadel’s 2021-22 season is currently underway, with diverse productions on the horizon.
From Nov. 19 through Dec. 23, the Lake Forest theatre will present the beloved musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” while “Outside Mullingar” and “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” await in the new year. All told, this season was designed to make theatergoers feel good!
Of course, none of the theatre’s work would be possible without the generous support of the community. Citadel Theatre raised $100,000 through live and silent auctions at its annual gala on Sept. 25. The event raised funds for the nonprofit theatre company, its education program and the charitable fund Citadel Cares. All proceeds benefit live theatre and enable the nonprofit to provide underserved communities with enrichment opportunities and scholarships toward its educational programs.
This year’s Gatsby-themed gala was hosted at the David Adler Estate, located at 830 N. Green Bay Road in Lake Forest. The estate was the perfect backdrop for the night, with dancers, musicians and performers matching the period aesthetic that is Gatsby.
