On April 21, 350 influential Chicagoland leaders gathered at the Four Seasons in support of Writers Theatre’s renowned arts and strong education programing. A record-breaking $850,000 was raised for the local theater.
The Spirit of Writers Theatre Award went to Stephanie and Bill Sick, residents of Winnetka, Illinois, and strong supporters of the theater. “Stephanie and Bill shine as champions of the humanities and demonstrate their passion for arts and culture as leaders of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ravinia Festival, Shedd Aquarium, Millennium Park, and more,” according to Writers Theatre.
WordPlay 2018 was co-chaired by Karen and Jim Frank, Gail and Tom Hodges, and Linda and Craig Umans. In celebrating the company’s 2017-18 season, the evening entailed dinner, a Motown-themed performance with Writers Theatre artists, a live auction, and raffle. Kehoe Designs devised the ambiance for this year’s elegant evening.
