Last Chance! Join 4 of the World’s Most Influential Leaders in Conservation as They Discuss Actions We Can All Take Now to Save the Planet

Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier are the world’s leading ocean conservationists, two of the world’s most-acclaimed nature photographers, and co-founders of the nonprofit, SeaLegacy, which harnesses visual storytelling to inspire millions of people to fight for our oceans and other areas threatened by climate change. Through SeaLegacy, Nicklen and Mittermeier have created a global network of renowned photographers, filmmakers and storytellers whose powerful media sparks conversation, instills hope, and inspires action.

Nicklen and Mittermeier, who are not only groundbreaking National Geographic photographers but also scientists—marine biologists with backgrounds in conservation—have traveled the globe, visually capturing our planet’s breathtaking beauty, but also the heartbreaking consequences of climate change. Harnessing the mobilizing power of a combined social media following of more than 20 million, SeaLegacy takes a three-pronged approach to enacting change: pioneering expeditions, global campaigns, and funding and amplification of sustainable solutions.

Legendary news anchor and famed judge and scorekeeper for NPR’s “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” Bill Kurtis and Donna LaPietra, longtime TV news and documentary film producer, are renowned conservationists in their own right, committed to restoring the world’s prairies and grasslands. They’ve transformed their home, 65-acre Mettawa Manor, into an ecological and agricultural model and are passionate about the potential of prairie grasses to combat climate change through carbon sequestration. Kurtis and LaPietra are active on the boards of numerous civic organizations, including Shedd Aquarium, Chicago Botanic Garden, Field Museum, and Millennium Park, and support prairie tours and lectures through their Kurtis Conservation Foundation.
