Interior designers, treasure hunters and collectors will convene on Chicago’s North Shore for the 2016 Antiques + Modernism Show Nov. 4-6, kicking off with a festive Preview Party Nov. 3, at the historic Winnetka Community House (620 Lincoln Ave.). Ranging in styles from classic to modern, the Show is renowned for exquisite home furnishings and accessories, artwork, clothing and jewelry exclusively available for purchase from dealers who are nationally recognized experts. The Show’s 60-year history and prevailing reputation speak to the caliber of this highly anticipated style and design event. All proceeds from the Show benefit Winnetka Community House.
This year’s Show features a roster of celebrity speakers and special events throughout the weekend, including award-winning designer Alexa Hampton, style maker and entrepreneur India Hicks, and Chicago luminary Michael Del Piero.
Alexa Hampton — daughter of the late Mark Hampton and owner of the world-famous design firm bearing his name — will present on Friday, Nov. 4 during a breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. Alexa brings her book, “Decorating in Detail,” to life by taking a closer look at details for elegant, classic homes. Her lecture will showcase living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and kitchens, with a focus on textures, fabric and furniture. Tickets for “Breakfast with Alexa Hampton” are $60.
Born in London, England, from both British and design royalty, India Hicks now lives on a small island in the Bahamas, where she runs her lifestyle brand. Author of “India Hicks: Island Style,” India will speak at a luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 12:30 p.m., offering a look into the book’s subtle palette of island life including the family tradition of tablescaping, the warm tumble of a family kitchen, the lazy pleasure of porches, the importance of shoe-string decorating, and leaving room for spaces of sanctuary. Tickets for “Lunch with India Hicks” are $60.
Chicago-based interior designer and international traveler Michael Del Piero will present “Traveled + Textural: Unusual Art and Objects for Modern Spaces,” at brunch on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 11:30 a.m. Michael brings an expert perspective to the process of purchasing, collecting and displaying original art and one-of-a-kind antiques. Tickets for “Brunch with Michael Del Piero” are $45.
