Top 5 Fashion Trends for Fall 2013

Fall fashion this season is crazy good!

While there are always trendy pieces, designers are also showing extremely striking, wearable items. These five trends will have you actually excited for cooler temperatures.

Green

It’s all about green for fall. Regardless of your coloring, there’s a shade of this jewel-toned hue for everyone. Earthy moss green and vibrant emerald showed up on just about every designer’s runway, and it was even voted the Pantone color of the year.

Hats

Top off your ensemble with a cool hat, from a printed baseball cap to a structured fedora. Beanies, which were huge in the ‘90s, are making a comeback and are one of the hottest trends of the season.Anthropologie, Free People and just about any department store are good places to look.

Plaid

An extension of the menswear-for-women trend, tartan-printed silhouettes ruled the runways. Pick up at least one checked piece for fall—and no, your favorite worn-in plaid flannel shirt doesn’t count. Plaid prints are showing up on ankle skimming pants, swingy skirts and boucle jackets.

Pointed-Toe Shoes

Put aside your ballet flats and platforms for now. Pointy-toe flats, pumps and booties are where it’s at. Ladylike pointed shoes will make your legs look long and lean. Black is always classic, but checkered and floral printed pointy toe shoes are fashion-forward this fall.

Animal Prints

Animal prints don’t have to be loud. Wearing an accessory of animal print, such as a scarf or belt, can look like a neutral part of your outfit when done right. Animal print handbags, from the higher-end ones seen at Gucci to more affordable versions at Zara, are sure to make a statement.
