Ravinia Fans: Get a Jump on Good Seats

(Hint: Don’t wait ‘til April)

Ravinia tickets go on sale to the general public on April 22nd and there are definitely some “must see” shows this season. But if you’re a “Ravinia Contributor,” which is a $250 donation then you can buy seats before they go on sale to the general public.

Question: If I want to sit in the pavilion how can I get the best seats?
Do I have to be sitting by my computer at http://www.ravinia.org at 5 a.m. the day tickets go on sale?

The answer is definitely “no.” Buying seats the second they go on sale to the general public will not guarantee you good seats –you may not get seats at all.

Many of the best seats will not make it to the public sale. Ravinia gives preference to contributors. But before you start grumbling about the unfair privileges given to the rich …you don’t really have to be rich to get first shot at these tickets.

A contribution of just $250 will give you the early purchase option and a 20% discount. If you buy enough tickets you will save money.

For instance, I am going to seven concerts this season. I bought four tickets to Earth, Wind and Fire, two to Garrick Ohlsson (don’t ask, my husband is a classical music aficionado, so he must be good), two to John Hiatt, two to Sting (though these tickets are in such high demand even some contributors may not get tickets), two to Rodrigo y Gabriela, two to Train and four to Sheryl Crow/Colbie Caillat. I am already saving the cost of the membership —not to mention the tax deduction you’ll be able to take for your contribution.

Deadline: Become a contributor by March 26th to take advantage of all the discounts and benefits membership has to offer.
