In December, Illinois celebrated its 200th birthday, but the party isn’t over. The Grove will host this celebration to give kids ages 6-11 a chance to learn more about our state with arts and crafts, nature walks, games and activities, and more. Call 847-299-6096 for more information and to register.

We Found a Hat

Lifeline Theatre will present the world premiere adaptation of Jon Klassen‘s 2016 book “We Found a Hat” through Feb. 17. The show is recommended for kids five and older. And if you attend a Saturday or Sunday performance, take part in the theater’s Stories Come Alive! Hour for an additional $5 per child.

New year, new poetry. Visit The Book Stall, where local poets will read never-before-heard poems during this free event. A reception will end the afternoon.
