New Trier 2022 Alumni Honoree – Deborah Rhode ’70

The New Trier Educational Foundation hosted Gala 2022 on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel in Northbrook. Proceeds from the gala help to fund exceptional educational opportunities throughout New Trier. The Alumni Hall of Honor Class of 2022 received their Alumni Achievement Awards at the gala. The guests were treated to moving remarks from the honorees, either in person or in a submitted video, during the evening. Deborah Rhode, Class of 1970 (1952-2021), was at the time of her death the Ernest W. McFarland Professor of Law at Stanford University and the Director of the Stanford Center on Ethics. She was a pioneer and a leader in the fields of legal ethics, access to justice and gender discrimination, and is the nation’s most frequently cited scholar on legal ethics. She is the author of over 20 books and hundreds of articles in the fields of professional responsibility, leadership, and gender, law and public policy. Her sister, Christine Rhode ’66, was present at the event to accept the award on her behalf.
