Long Grove Cafe

If you find yourself popping by Long Grove this summer for its shopping or annual Strawberry Fest, be sure to refuel at this rustic café on the banks of the town’s Mill Pond.

They offer a robust menu but specialize in Greek fare, and favorites include the Chicken Kabob, Gyros, and Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta.

Feeling festive? Order the Saganaki appetizer and watch your server flambé the cheese at your table. The Spinach Pie was the best I’ve tasted; rich in flavor, and the dough melts in your mouth.

For a lighter option, the Grilled Shrimp Salad hit the mark with a tasty combination of shrimp, greens, cucumbers, and blue cheese crumbles. Eat outside if you can—the covered patio keeps the sun off your face but still allows a great view of the pond and the geese and ducks swimming there.
