New in Town: Homemade Treats at Windy City Pie Co

Sara Montmorency grew up cooking with her mom and grandma, though she didn’t see it as a career initially. So she pursued a fine arts degree in college and then a master’s in business. But, she’s always loved pie, so she returned to the kitchen. After three years of farmers’ market booths (you might know her from the Lake Bluff, Northbrook, Highland Park, Glenview or Winnetka markets), Montmorency was ready for a brick-and-mortar store. When the beloved Mrs. D’s Diner closed in Wilmette’s Linden Village neighborhood, she saw an opportunity, and Windy City Pie Co was in business. Stop in for one of her fabulous bacon (!) scones, or a slice of berry pie and a cup of coffee. There are whole pies to take home – sweet or savory – and some tasty biscuits, cookies and the like. All made with love. Windy City Pie is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
