Big Blue’s Hour of Power a Success

It was a fundraising effort that topped all expectations.

Big Blue Swim School partnered with Make It Better, the OLPH Sharks, and two-time Olympic gold medalist Peter Vanderkaay to raise money for the Ted Mullin Fund for pediatric sarcoma research on March 12 at the Playdium Pool in Glenview. Peter swam with participants and signed autographs after the event, which raised more than $10,000 and was attended by more than 30 swimmers.

Donations all went to sarcoma research at the University of Chicago. Ted Mullin was a Winnetka swimmer that passed away from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer that attacks young people, in 2006. Today sarcoma research is severely underfunded, but we can make a difference. Learn more about the Ted Mullin Fund here and read about Ted Mullin’s journey here.
