Northbrook’s The Cove School to Honor Local Champion, More at Upcoming Virtual Benefit

While togetherness may look a bit different this year, The Cove School didn’t want to miss a tradition of bringing its cherished community together, albeit virtually.

The Northbrook institution will host its annual benefit, Stronger Together: The Cove School Annual Benefit 2021, virtually on Saturday, Feb. 27. As part of the festivities, The Cove School will honor longtime Cove community leader and supporter Maureen Klatt, of Lake Forest.

For over 10 years, Maureen has been an active parent, volunteer, donor and leader in The Cove School community. After serving on the Cove Benefit Committee for multiple years, Maureen co-chaired the silent auction, helping to bring the event to record participation and fundraising levels. As an active member of the Cove Parent Association Board, Maureen served as social events chairperson and president. Her leadership was further evident on The Cove School Strategic Planning Committee and on the board, for which Maureen has served as a trustee since 2014. The Cove School is grateful to Maureen Klatt for her inspirational leadership, outstanding commitment and transformational impact at Cove.

This year’s event will feature a Wine Tasting Pre-Party, Cove Uncorked, featuring sommelier and restaurant wine specialist Gleshan Piumpathy, of Louis Glunz Wines, beginning at 6:15 p.m. Gleshan will showcase the art form of wine tasting and share pairings that guests’ taste buds will love. Packages cost $125 and include entry for two to Cove Uncorked as well as three bottles of fine wine.

After a brief intermission, the Benefit Program will begin promptly at 7 p.m. The Cove School’s virtual journey and celebration will feature special guests, inspiring stories and important messages about its very specialized school. A $50 donation per bid reservation is suggested.

The Cove School provides an individualized education and life strategies for students in grades K-12 with complex learning disabilities. Through small class sizes, personalized curriculum, cutting-edge assistive technology, high expectations and meaningful peer activities, students from around the entire Chicagoland area are transformed at Cove.

The benefit is open to the public. Corporate sponsorship and recognition opportunities begin at $2,500. To register, donate or become a corporate sponsor, go to event.gives/cove, or contact Alana Wett, director of advancement, at (847) 562-2100 or awett@coveschool.org for more information.
