Fall Beauty Trends

The fall season calls for breaking out your chunky sweaters, favorite boots, and a new beauty product or hairstyle.

We’ve narrowed down the best fall beauty trends you can work into your routine.

Hair

Messy Buns: You CAN wear a bun without looking like you’ve walked out of Swan Lake. A messy bun (see above right) is stylish without being fussy. After creating a side part and sweeping hair into a bun, pull a few strands out to make it look more casual. For added whimsy, top things off with a slim headband.

Long Bob: With the drop in humidity, fall is the perfect time to try a new haircut. The longer bob is one of the hottest styles in Hollywood (just ask Jennifer Aniston) and truly flatters any face shape. Keeping some length allows you to pull your hair back, but creates a sophisticated look when worn down.

Face

Face Oil: Many of us blanch at the thought of deliberately putting oil on our faces, but these specially crafted varieties, which won’t clog pores, illuminate the skin and provide the extra moisture it craves in the dryer, colder months. Created from a blend of essential oils made from flowers and botanicals, Rodin Olio Lusso has been praised in the beauty industry for its soothing and emollient properties. Josie Maran’s Argan Oil is another favorite.

Big Lashes

Lengthy lashes a la Twiggy make eyes stand out. At this fall’s Gucci show, renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath applied two coats of mascara with a final application concentrated only on the lash tips. MAC’s Haute & Naughty mascara has a unique applicator that lets you opt for naturally defined lashes or a bolder, more dramatic look. It’s like two mascaras in one!

Full Brows

Say goodbye to over-tweezed brows. Defined, natural brows are huge for fall. A filled-in brow frames the face and can easily be achieved with a brow pencil and matching powder shadow. For an all-in-one application try Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper in your preferred shade.

Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper, $20

Metallics

Metallic shades add instant sheen to your look, but don’t go overboard or you’ll risk looking too severe. A touch of metallic cream shadow on inner corners of eyes is gorgeous for evening.
