When a homeowner decides to invest in their home, they can find inspiration in this first floor makeover. Lewis Floor & Home transformed this outdated but grand 1925 Georgian-style home into a modern vintage space that compliments the original millwork, architectural moldings, and details.
The kitchen was an enclosed space with a tiny cutout that led to the family room. By removing the wall between the kitchen and family room, and changing the cabinet layout and appliance placement, the island was expanded to easily fit four barstools at the counter. The informal dining space was also relocated to accommodate a large table that seats eight comfortably.
A classic white subway tile suits this backsplash along with a white porcelain farm sink and black granite countertops with a complimentary extra thick super gray quartzite huge slab on the island top.
Adding a wall between the kitchen and formal dining room created space for two butler’s pantries.
In the family room, the corner fireplace was relocated to the center of the wall with new built-in custom cabinetry framing the new fireplace. All the kitchen and family room cabinets boast traditional inset white painted doors.
The powder was remodeled with white carrara marble subway tile walls and mosaic carrara marble floors reminiscent of tile work found in vintage homes of the early 1900s.
The wall between the vestibule and front hall was removed to create a spacious entry. All the wood floors were refinished in a warm deep walnut tone and extended into the vestibule.
Upon completion, all the homeowners could say was, “The project totally changed our lives. Thank you Lewis Floor & Home!”
