Since its inception in 1988, Wine Auction has raised over $11 million in support of Lyric Opera of Chicago. Held every three years by the Women’s Board, Lyric’s Wine Auction was named a “Top Charity Wine Auction” by Wine Spectator. Linda Swayze, a native of Chicago, has dedicated her life to the arts as a performer, teacher, and mentor, including a prestigious performance career as an artist with The Dance Theatre of Harlem for 17 years. She is beloved by colleagues and students alike, a champion of aspiring artists and the performing arts. Linda joined The Joffrey Ballet’s Community Engagement Teaching Artist staff in 2008 and became a program supervisor in 2015. Since taking over the role of Interim Director of the program in 2020, Linda oversaw a successful leadership transition, accelerated by the arrival of Covid-19 by keeping the program running full steam, providing students with uninterrupted Joffrey programming. In August 2020, she was appointed The Joffrey Ballet’s Director of Community Engagement overseeing 93 dance enrichment programs in 58 schools, reaching approximately 7000 students. Linda also serves on the Joffrey’s committee for IDEA – inclusion, diversity, equity and access. She is committed to dance education while assisting schools in providing high quality arts to their students.

Dr. Carqueville, also recently named a 2021 Top Doc by Chicago Magazine, has opened a new location in Hinsdale, bringing Chicago’s leading skincare specialists and surgeons to the western suburbs. The Derm Institute of Chicago providers are committed to delivering high quality care and helping patients feel great in their skin. Two new providers have joined the growing practice: board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Stephanie Bayers, and nurse practitioner, Elizabeth Russeau. The Hinsdale location is the Derm Institute of Chicago’s third, with two other offices located in downtown Chicago and at Old Orchard Mall in Skokie.

In addition to practice expansion, D r. Carqueville began her role as president of the Chicago Dermatological Society in July. This year, the organization will hold the inaugural “Art of Skin Gala,” a celebration of diversity, equity, and inclusion brought to life through the beauty of skin. The event will take place on June 10, 2022 at the Revel Motor Row. This sensually captivating live event will help support education for youth in underserved communities of color. Dermatologists , patients, friends, skin care enthusiasts, and supporters of diversity and education are all invited to join this fundraising celebration. More to come!

Her passion for art, nature and people is woven through her professional roles and personal pursuits. Gail has applied her knowledge and leadership skills to benefit many worthy Nonprofit organizations, including The Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods, The Lake Forest Symphony, Fenix Family Health Center, The Luster Learning Institute: Calm Classroom, The Transportation Management Association of Lake Cook and The Metropolitan Planning Council of Chicago.

One of her greatest joys was gained through her families’ participation in Rotary’s Youth Exchange Program. Sharing their home and lives with 16 students spanning 4 continents and 11 countries over 14 years created an opportunity to discover and embrace other cultures.
