Resort Show Trends

The 2012 resort collections were filled with dazzling colors and playful patterns, so ditch the lackluster summer uniform of shorts and t-shirts and give these trends a try.

The effortless styles will become your new warm weather staples.

Yellow
This golden shade appeared on everything from clutches at Burberry Prorsum to delicate eyelet dresses at Emilio Pucci. Pair a bright yellow dress with flats for the office and swap them for heels at happy hour. To add a sunny splash to your outfit, try a yellow clutch in shiny patent leather, or tie a yellow bow on your favorite handbag.

Polka Dots
Many designers revamped the classic polka dot pattern for resort. Carolina Herrera paired them with stripes and Badgley Mischka used random patterns of dots in all shapes and sizes. For a fresh way to wear this youthful trend, try prints with dots that are scattered across the fabric or that aren’t perfect circles.

Neon
Everyone in the fashion world is talking about Jason Wu’s scuba inspired bag with electric yellow trim, proving that little hints of neon are making a splash. The goal isn’t to relive the ‘80s, so try it in small doses: A bright belt, bracelet or even hair ties are all good ways to embrace this trend.

Sequins
Little black dresses received a makeover on the resort runways as classic silhouettes got a dose of sparkle. One of Hollywood’s best-dressed moms, Rachel Zoe, included a classic black wrap dress in her collection, but covered it in sequins to make it modern and fun.
