For the first time in its 22-year history, the Chip in for Children golf outing was a sold-out event. Complete with 31 foursomes, the outing was held at the Glen View Golf & Polo Club on June 25. Hosted by the Kohl Children’s Museum Development Board, the 22nd annual event raised more than $100,000 in support of the museum’s operations and educational outreach programs, including those occurring outside of the museum itself. “…the pop-up Museum will be expanding to three new locations following the success of our pilot program in Waukegan this past February,” Sheridan Turner, president and CEO of Kohl Children’s Museum says. “It’s very important to us to bring the greater concepts of the museum directly to neighborhoods where children live, so they can have easy access and feel a sense of ownership.”
Over 100 amateur and professional golfers from Chicagoland and beyond attended the full-day outing. The day kicked off with a luncheon before playing 18 holes of golf. Attendees enjoyed post-round cocktails and dinner, along with a silent auction and raffle. Prizes included a signed Mike Ditka jersey and a tour of Lagunitas Brewing Co.
Chip in for Children was sponsored by Northern Trust, ITW, ECC Insurance Brokers, and Taft. Event chairs for the 2018 outing included Rusty Magner, Development Board president; and Matthew Gibbons, Board of Trustees member.
