Donate to Warming Hearts & Hands and enjoy coffee and a treat for Giving Tuesday, a national movement that encourages communities to help nonprofit organizations.
Giving Tuesday was added to the calendar this past year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In 2012, more than 2,500 partners from all 50 states participated in the event.
What: To celebrate the second annual Giving Tuesday, bring in donations for Make It Better Foundation’s Warming Hearts and Hands and grab free doughnuts and coffee.
Where: The Make It Better office, 588 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka
When: Tuesday, Dec. 3, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
How: Bring in handmade or newly purchased blankets, hats, coats, gloves and scarves to the Make It Better office. Donation boxes will be placed at the entrance, or come upstairs to enjoy coffee and doughnuts on your way to work or during your lunch break.
The organization: Make It Better Foundation’s Warming Hearts and Hands, in its fifth year, accepts outerwear donations from the community to then distribute to local organizations.
We would like to give special thanks to the Starbucks at Plaza del Lago for providing coffee on Giving Tuesday, as well as Lawrence Deans Bake Shop for donating an array of baked goods. We would also like to thank Scarves with a Purpose and the Northbrook Senior Center knitting group for large donations to Warming Hearts and Hands.
We would also like to give a warm thank you to our partners at the Volunteer Center, who have been a part of Warming Hearts and Hands since its inception.
