Winnetka Park District

The Winnetka Park District offers a wealth of year-round fitness activities for the entire family. Take tennis lessons or join a league and play on both indoor and outdoor courts. Have fun and socialize while playing Paddle. Get your skate on at the Winnetka Ice Arena and outdoor rinks. Tee off at the beautiful Winnetka Golf Club, an 18-hole course that is also a favorite winter destination for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. And for swimming, sailing and paddling, there are the breathtaking beaches: Elder, Maple, Tower, and Centennial, for your canine companion.

Northfield Park District/Fitness Center

World-renowned open-water marathon swimmer and Winnetka resident Marcia Cleveland takes your swim workout to the beach — and the next level. Her open-water swimming lessons are 30 to 60 minutes and start in June, depending on water temperature.

New Trier Extension

Rowing’s popularity is on the rise all over the country, including here in Illinois. This full body workout will strengthen every muscle and increase your aerobic fitness. New Trier Extension offers a top notch program at New Trier High School, coached by Rose Marchuk and her team of outstanding colleagues. Classes are offered indoors on the “erg” and outdoors on the water. The indoor workouts are high energy, teach proper technique, and provide an amazing workout while allowing you to workout at your own pace. The outdoor workouts, located on the North Shore Channel of the Chicago River in Skokie, teach teamwork and allow you to enjoy the beauty of the sport in the great outdoors. No experience is necessary. Classes are held in the mornings and kickoff in April.
