The 39th annual Zoo Ball: Penguins in Paradise took place July 15 at Lincoln Park Zoo, raising $1.35 million. The money raised from the zoo ball “will be applied to the Women’s Board’s leadership commitment to support Lincoln Park Zoo as it continues to transform its physical landscape, providing state-of-the-art exhibits that inspire connection.” The theme for the event harkens to the introduction of more than a dozen penguins who will make their appearance at the zoo in the fall.
More than 900 guests enjoyed cocktails, a silent auction, dinner and dancing under the watchful eye of a pride of lions. The night’s performers included Ugochi and the Afro Soul Ensemble and Chicago Catz.
Sponsors included presenting sponsor PowerShares QQQ as well as Robert and Mayari Pritzker Family Foundation and Tawani Foundation, Lathrop & Gage LLP, Bank of America, Dover, PNC, Neiman Marcus Chicago and United Airlines.
